Founded in 2016, based in the north west, we work with a range of clients from small local firms to large international contractors to solve problems of all sizes. We are temporary works and ground engineering specialists. We are a unique blend of technical expertise, acquired from past positions with consultants, contractors and the supply chain, which equips us with the skills, knowledge and experience in design, construction processes and products, to deliver safe, value-engineered, efficient solutions to create savings in time and materials. David Taberner
Director
BEng CEng MICE MIStructE
David has over 20 years experience in both mainstream and specialist engineering in the construction industry having been involved and led projects in civil nuclear, defence nuclear, education, healthcare, commercial, infrastructure, public and private sectors.
Initially, starting out as graduate in 1999 with a specialist consultancy provider of risk-managed engineering solutions offered an excellent foundation to a career in design and the construction industry. Experience and skills were gained in advanced engineering and assessment of structures and systems for extreme environmental and man-made hazards. David worked on projects in civil nuclear, defence nuclear and insurance risk mitigation.
Looking for new challenges and broader experience, David joined a major international contractor as a project engineer in 2003. Achieving quick progression to principal engineer and professional status CEng MICE (2005) and MIStructE (2006), mainstream and specialist engineering experience was further enhanced with design projects in education, health care, retail, energy and defence nuclear sectors. David was responsible for establishing a local advanced engineering capability.
Continually seeking to develop new specialist engineering and leadership skills, David joined a market leading specialist supplier in excavation support. Initially responsible for major projects, experience was gained delivering some of the UKs largest and most complex basement propping schemes. David progressed to senior manager and then design director responsible for leading a large design team providing a national design service.
Fulfilling an ambition, David established his own engineering consulting practice in 2016, specialising in temporary works design and ground engineering. David has worked with some of the UKs largest contractors providing expert witness advice in temporary works and basement construction.

Andrea Taberner
Operations Manager

Andrea has over 20 years’ experience in customer service, operations and project management in the telecommunications sector.
In 1996, Andrea started her career with a global market leader in the telecommunications sector. Andrea joined the Business Customer Service team where she progressed quickly from apprentice to customer services manager. Andrea has a HNC in business studies and BA (Hons) in International Business.
In 2005, seeking new challenges Andrea joined the Senior Leadership Team as Business Manager to a General Manager. Her key responsibilities included resolution of customer service issues, producing quarterly performance and finance reports for the Senior Leadership Team and building presentations for executive level customer service reviews.
In 2013, Andrea moved into customer project management working on large scale telecommunication infrastructure projects for high profile customers. To deliver projects on time, within budget and to a high quality required Andrea to have strong project management, stakeholder management, customer engagement and organisational skills. Andrea reported directly to senior management both externally with clients and internally with suppliers.
Having taken a short career break to focus on 3 little people (Jessica, Imogen and George) Andrea is developing her career with JIG Consulting Engineers, where she is responsible for financial management, human resources and business compliance.

TEMPORARY WORKS

Bespoke engineered or preparatory solutions, we tailor our designs to best meet your needs. Our services are comprehensive minimising design interfaces to achieve complete solutions.
Specialist providers of temporary works design standard solutions. We work with our customers to develop processes and solutions compliant with BS 5975 and your own in-house engineering procedures.
We are experts in excavation support, cofferdams and basement propping.
We provide CAT 3 checking services for all aspects of temporary works design.
Our design procedures are BS 5975 compliant. We are experienced in Eurocodes, British Standards or more traditional UK temporary works design methods (working loads, permissible stress). We adapt to best meet the needs of your projects.
TEMPORARY WORKS COORDINATOR SERVICES
Our knowledge and experience of temporary works and construction processes positions us well to offer sites Temporary Works Coordinator services (TWC). We offer site support through formal appointment or advisory roles.
GEOTECHNICAL & STRUCTURAL
We specialise in geotechnical engineering. In particular, we are highly experienced in embedded retaining walls having extensive design experience in sheet piles and king post retaining walls. Understanding the engineering constraints, complex ground conditions and the management of geotechnical risk is key to effective design and integral to our solutions. Wall designs are undertaken using well practiced, routine methods and software. Advanced geotechnical analysis methods and software are used when ground movements and surface settlement are sensitive. We have worked across all sectors of construction including rail, highways, building, utilities and private. We are experienced with rail and highway engineering approvals.
We offer advanced structural analysis and design capabilities for solve complex structures. We maximise structural efficiency to deliver cost-effective solutions.
We design to the latest codes and standards using best practice.
